v St. David’s day is 1 march. The date of 1 March was chosen in remembrance of the death of Saint David. Tradition holds that he died on that day in 589

v St. David’s who lived in the sixth century. St. David (Welsh: Dewi Sant) was born towards the end of the fifth century. The most famous story about Saint David tells how he was preaching to a huge crowd and the ground is said to have risen up, so that he was standing on a hill and everyone had a better chance of hearing him. The date was declared a national day of celebration within Wales in the 18th century.
